It is of course very annoying if you have invested a lot of time and energy in your keywords and you do not rank on the right page. You think you've done everything right, but then you still rank on a different page. You obviously want to avoid this, because the last thing you want is for potential customers to end up on the wrong page. If customers come to the wrong page, this increases the chance of fewer conversions, your bounce rate goes up and there is less interaction. Of course, these are all things you don't want. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to prevent this. Below you will see a list of things you can do to prevent this.

What exactly is the user looking for?

When you search for something on Google, you usually do this for a reason. Do you want to buy something, are you looking for a specific website or do you need information about a service or product? An example: If you type 'peanut butter 300g' then there is a good chance that you are looking for a jar of peanut butter to buy. If you search for 'peanut butter ingredients' then the person is looking for information. Have you ever thought about what your potential customers think when they enter the keywords you focus on?

Is the correct content on the page?

If you know what the intention of a potential customer is, you can write content in a more targeted manner. There are some questions you can ask yourself. Consider: is my keyword in the header and title, is it in the description and does the content answer the question this person may have.

Links in your content

There are two different types of links you can have in your content. Internal links, with which you link to pages on your website. This is a good way to signal to Google that the page is important. Try to add at least 3-5 internal links on relevant pages. It is no different for external links. If you point to another website, make sure the correct keywords and links are used. If these do not match each other, this will affect the rankings. This also applies to external links that point to your web page. It is important that they come from relevant websites. Are you looking for external links? Then take a look at this page!

What should I do if it still doesn't work?

If this still doesn't work, you can convert the wrong page into a 301 redirect. Basically you tell Google that you have permanently changed the page. This will then boost the right page. In short, there are plenty of ways to rank again on the right page. Keep an eye on our blog for more tips!
