Is your Google Analytics already set up correctly?

by | Apr 21, 2022 | Google | 0 Comments

We've talked about Analytics before in our recent blog. As of July 1, 2023, the Universal Analytics (UA) properties will no longer work. It is therefore advisable to make the switch to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) now. Therefore, export the data from UA and switch to GA4.

What is Google 4?

Compared to UA, GA4 brings several advantages. In the European Union they are very focused on preserving privacy. Consider, for example, the GDPR legislation. For a while it was questionable whether we could continue to use analytics. With the new property, the data is more privacy-oriented and sustainable. For example, it uses machine learning to gain insights on different platforms and devices. You'll find that it has improved integrations with advertising platforms like Google Ads. This will ultimately ensure better campaign performance and a return on investment (ROI).

How do I know which property I have?

Maybe you're not completely familiar with these tools, that's why we're here to help you. You can easily see whether you have GA4 or UA. If you go to Analytics and look at the number code of your property you will see which version you have. Is there a UA + number code? Then you have UA. If there is only a number code then you have GA4. Do you now only have a number code? Then you don't have to do anything! Unless it is not set up correctly, be sure to read on.

How do I create a GA4 property?

First of all, you go to analytics and then to your property. At the bottom left you will find a gear, if you click on it you will see two menus. One menu is for account setting and the other for the property. If you have not yet set up GA4, you will see the option 'setup assistant for GA4' under property. Click on this and then continue by clicking on the get started button. Read carefully what it says and then create the property. Don't forget to put the correct tag on your website with the tag manager! Don't wait too long to switch to GA4 and set up your analytics properly today.
