Yes, you read that correctly, even websites need to go to the doctor sometimes. The health of your website is important if you want to achieve good results on Google. To be better found on Google, several factors are important for your website.

The domain authority (better known as DA) is a score that shows how high the chance is that your website will score well in Google. This method was invented by MOZ and is now used as a benchmark by everyone. Please note that it is a MOZ formula and not Google's own formula. Google doesn't give away any secrets about what they consider important.

There are a few reasons why a high DA value is important to you (especially as a blogger). The higher your DA value, the greater the chance that you will appear high in the Google search results and be found faster for your chosen keywords. In addition, a high DA value makes you more attractive for other companies to collaborate with. The link from your page to their page is worth a lot because of this DA score.


From 1 to 30


If you start with a website, you have a DA score of 1. Then the climbing starts. Climbing from 1 to 30 is much faster than, for example, from 30 to 50. This is because the score is logarithmic. Is your score not yet close to 30? Don't worry, there are few sites that really top this score. Some exceptions include Gmail and Wikipedia.

Domain tip

Sites that score high have often been producing content for a long time, using link building and often already have their SEO in order. There is one tip you can use to score higher. Do you have a keyword you want to rank for? Then use this in your domain name. By putting your keyword in your domain name, you will score higher in Google.

My DA is low: what now?

Having a low DA level doesn't mean you're automatically doomed (don't worry, there's still hope!). What is wise to realize is that at this time it is not wise to compete and use keywords that have high search volumes. Here your competitors are fighting for the first position and you as a starter have very little chance of achieving victories here. That is why it is wise to focus on more specific keywords with a lower search volume than the big boys. This way you can fight a fair fight and write yourself to the first position on Google.
