Do's and Don'ts of Link Building

SEO largely consists of link building. Link building involves obtaining external links that link to your website. The more backlinks refer to your website, the higher your position in Google's search engine results will be. Link building is a little more complicated than simply acquiring backlinks. There are certain things you can do to ensure that your position will rise faster, but there are also a number of don'ts. We will explain these do's and don'ts in more detail below. 

Don't be too enthusiastic

It is common knowledge that building a strong link profile can have a huge influence on your position in Google. The more backlinks point to your website, the higher your position will be. However, this does not mean that you can use as many links as you want at any time. Google will consider this as spam. When it comes to creating a strong backlink profile, it is advantageous to do this on a structural basis. For example, you can collect X number of backlinks every month. If you continue to do this consistently, you will build a high-quality link profile and your position will eventually increase significantly. 

Think about the quality and quantity

When creating a backlink profile, it is not only about the quantity of links, but also about their quality. It is of course advantageous if there are many backlinks pointing to your website, but the quality of these links also has a major influence on your position in Google. For example, if you have a website about baby products, it is much more relevant if backlinks pointing to your website are placed on websites about babies than on a website about a completely different subject. When generating backlinks, take into account not only the quantity of links, but also their quality. 

Vary link forms

There are various types link shapes that you can use. The more you vary in these link forms, the more extensive and varied your link profile will be. For example, you can invest in links on home pages, but links that are incorporated into content also count well in determining your position in Google. Finally, it is also important to vary the backlinks. It is not recommended to point every backlink to the homepage of your website. So choose a few URLs that you want to focus on and vary which link is referred to.
