Everyone knows that social media is widely used. From Facebook, Snapchat to Instagram and TikTok. The Global Web Index (GWI) has research done into people's motivation to use social media. The correspondents' response shows that the main reason is that people want to stay in touch with friends and family. What is striking is that during the lockdowns people were less concerned with consuming media and more concerned with contacting or staying in touch with people. Another important thing that has emerged is that entertainment and content that inspires is the most profitable.

Of course, there is a lot of difference in why people use social media. One generation uses social media differently than, for example, older generations. For example, Gen Z uses the internet a lot to look at trends, search for content and fill their time. Consider, for example, waiting for the bus. This is the time when people, especially younger generations, spend a lot of time on their phones.

During the lockdowns, it is logical that people spent more time online as many activities disappeared. Now that we are in a lockdown again and this will probably not be the last, the use of social media is still high. Enough reason to take a little more time yourself spend on social media to reach people. There is plenty you can do to reach your target group and there are plenty of types of content to come up with.

There are many ways in which you can reach a target group. One of them, for example, is blogging, which we do here on our website. Is your target group more sensitive to visual content such as posters, inspiring quotes or videos? Then it might be an idea to switch to stories. Stories originally comes from Snapchat. It is a short video showing what is going on in your life. It doesn't have to be just about your life, maybe you came across something funny and you want to show it. Other well-known social media such as Instagram and Facebook have responded to this trend and created their own stories. Did you know that Instagram users have created more stories than all Facebook users combined?

We have to mention this, because this website/app is slightly different from the other social media. Pinterest is not so much about active interactions with users. There is a system where people can respond to your messages, but there is little interaction. About four in ten find a new brand or product on Pinterest. But what exactly is Pinterest and how can you apply it? If you are familiar with Instagram, then you have come a long way to understanding the concept of Pinterest. On this site you can make collages that match your theme. You create, as if they were boards, from collected images. This could be anything; game products, clothing, interior. The research showed that many people come into contact with a brand thanks to social media. This is because of recommendations such as reviews, but also because of advertisements. Another fact that may be interesting to you is that the travel industry is the most popular. The health sector was then followed by fitness. In short, social media are more important than ever. Every generation has a reason why they use this. Which group does your target group belong to and on which social media can they be found? If you know this you can create specific content.
