Google has rolled out another spam update. It's been a while since they did the last spam update. The last was between July 26 and August 24. They started around November 3 and were completed around November 11. In this update they focused on content that exceeds Google guidelines. Curious what these guidelines are? Google has linked this for every webmaster. You will find the guidelines here. Danny Sullivan, a key advisor to Google, has announced that this spam update focuses on content that goes against their guidelines. However, it appears that more has changed. The update seems to focus on something called 'cloaked content spam'. Now you might be wondering what exactly is cloaking? Cloaking is an SEO technique in which crawlers are manipulated. This means that a Google bot will see different results than, for example, you as a user.

Did you know that you can check whether your site is suffering from spam?

  • Go to google.com.
  • Write this in the search bar site:url of your website intext:keyword.
  • If you get results that you do not recognize, then this is indeed spam.

This is the result that Mozcast has given for the last period
