How do you create the perfect landing page?

by | Sep 28, 2022 | content marketing, Website, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) | 0 Comments

A landing page is different from a homepage. You use your homepage as a kind of calling card for your company. From the homepage, people can navigate further to the information they are looking for. A landing page is specifically aimed at being found better in search engines, so that people can "land" on this page. From this page they can then navigate further to other pages.

Difference homepage and landing page

The difference between a homepage and a landing page is the purpose of the page. A homepage aims to inform the potential customer, while a landing page focuses on getting a high position in the search engine results.

More web traffic

Having a good landing page can therefore improve the online findability of your website. The higher the position in the search engine, the greater the chance that people will visit your website. A landing page therefore initially ensures more web traffic. This can of course lead to more sales.

Creating a good landing page

Now that we know that a landing page works extremely well to generate more web traffic, it is important that we know how to best create it. There are several factors important when creating a landing page. We will explain these further below.

Choose a relevant topic

Before you start creating the actual landing page, you need to have decided on a topic. This topic must be relevant to your company. For example, use a specific search term on which your website is found.

Writing content

One of the most important parts of a landing page is the content. Try to provide as much information as possible about the subject. Include the most important search terms in this content that your website is found on. Make sure the information you provide is useful and relevant to the topic. Use subheadings and paragraphs so that the text is easy to read and structure. It is important that you use H1, H2 and H3 headings.

Internal links

Once the content is written, you can start inserting internal links. These are links that point to different pages of your website. You can use the search terms in the running text to link. You can then link the corresponding page of your website behind this.

Meta title and description

Now that the content is done, it's time for more practical matters surrounding the landing page. For example, the search engine looks at the meta title and meta description of the page. So adjust this as well so that the correct keywords are listed and the text is relevant to the content of the page.

Images

Adding images is also important in creating a good landing page. They create structure and are often the first things people look at when they visit a page. Always use license-free images that you can find on websites like Pexels or Unsplash. Also adjust the name and description of the image to include the corresponding search terms. The search engine cannot read the images themselves, but they can read the alt text.

In principle, a landing page is never finished. There is always new information to be found on a subject. So you can always adjust the landing page. Then you can use the SEO and link building to rank higher in the search engines.
